The Youth Initiative Grafing Association (Jugendinitiative Grafing e.V.) was founded on October 11, 1984. In 1986, the City of Grafing provided the organization with premises on the ground floor of Rotter Straße 8, where the Youth Initiative — now commonly known as JIG (pronounced "Tschigg") — is still located today.

As a self-managed youth initiative, all activities at JIG are carried out by dedicated young volunteers. From maintaining regular opening hours, organizing concerts and parties, managing finances, to cooperating with local politics — JIG is truly an initiative by youth, for youth.

This also means that we operate in a very grassroots-democratic way: everyone has the right (and the responsibility) to get involved, contribute ideas, and help shape the youth center into exactly the kind of space we want it to be.

In addition to this "internal work," JIG is of course a welcoming place for young people of all ages — whether you're just looking to play foosball, celebrate at one of our parties, or simply relax and unwind.
